I’m very happy to have my work in the exhibition. PH21 Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space established in 2012 in Budapest, Hungary. The mission of the gallery is to provide group and solo exhibition opportunities and international exposure for contemporary photographers around the world.

Honourable Mention for Chasing Shadows

My proposal to show Chasing Shadows (projection) has been awarded an Honourable Mention in PH21 Gallery’s international competition for a solo exhibition!

Congratulations to Motonori Shimizu, who’s winning exhibition ‘Individual‘ runs from June 21st – July 8th (Wednesday–Saturday: 3–7 p.m) at PH21 Gallery, H-1092 Budapest, Ráday u. 55.

PH21 Gallery Solo Call – Finalist!

PH21 Gallery are running an international competition to find photographic artists for solo exhibition at their space in Budapest. My proposal to show Chasing Shadows (projection) has been selected as a finalist!

Cornish Roads… in Colour burst

Two images from my newest body of work ‘Cornish Roads (hedges), in Flow‘ have been selected for inclusion in the exhibition Colour burst by PH21 Gallery, Budapest. Colour burst is a juried international exhibition of photographs that use colour as an integral, formative aspect of their photographic meaning – colour by signficance.

Cornish Roads (hedges), in Flow: A30 near Penzance, Cornwall

Shot entirely on an iphone 5s, ‘Cornish Roads (hedges), in Flow’ is an abstract study of time, colour, movement, and the flow-state, captured in the vibrant hedges that line some of Cornwall’s twisting ancient roads. to see more from this series take a look at my website. Flow, as defined by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, is “completely focused intrinsic motivation” in which your attention is so focused that “body and identity disappear from consciousness” and “existence is temporarily suspended” as you “become one with the activity”. Honourable Mention for ‘No46 Bus (night), London’ at PH21 Gallery, Budapest

‘No46 Bus (night), London’ has been awarded an honourable mention in the new group exhibition by PH21 Gallery – City.

This juried international photography exhibition explores how urban spaces provide intensified experiences, how we shape our environment and how we live in the environment we create for ourselves.

No46 Bus (night), London

Of my photograph, the juror’s review says “Nicola Jayne Maskrey presents a vivid, colourful impression of the city by night. The composition is shaped by motion itself, in a way we never actually see but often imagine or remember seeing a city. The person in the picture is faceless; she enters and then immediately exits our life, remaining a mere passing memory.”

This image is a recent addition to my very long work in progress – London Project/Traces – you can see more images from this series as well as other work on my instagram page.

They have hosted a number of inspiring shows featuring talented photographers from all corners of the world.
