Helen McCookery came along and wrote the loveliest words about some of the images (and the rest of the event) here: http://www.mccookerybook.com/blog/2010/01/radio-joy-at-foundry-part-of-it-anyway.html

“Two of the screens glow orange with nasturtiums: how did they know I liked nasturtiums?

They provided me with a constant supply of little caterpillars to keep in jam jars when I was a little girl; they danced optimistically in the West-country sun at my ex-honeymoon; they flowered heroically through the deadly weeks when I was packing up our big house and getting ready to move on, exhausted by it all.
Their happy morning song of shades of orange, sung through autumn frosts and dismal rain, reminded me that life can be beautiful even when it is disguised as a nightmare.”

Chasing Shadows is a night journey – a sleepwalk through a silent world bereft of people.  As the quality of evening light transforms the everyday into a dreamlike state, familiar urban landscapes disappear underneath resilient vegetation.

Long exposure night photographs are hand printed using a lith technique (an alternative wet printing process) to create a degraded aesthetic closer to illustration than photography.  The very nature of the process ensures that each image is visually unique, and in this instance the choice of a now discontinued fibre based paper enforces a single edition body of work.
