There was such beautiful light that day. I love the juxtaposition of the trees and layers of reflections with the structure of the bridge and its fading corrugated roof.

There’s a really eclectic range of photographs in the exhibition, taken with mobile phone cameras all over the world. It’s well worth a look.

Considered one of the ten photography blogs you should read, LENSCRATCH is a daily journal that explores contemporary photography. Since its inception in 2007, LENSCRATCH has featured the work of thousands of photographers, has provided a platform to launch numerous portfolios, and has been a media partner to numerous photography festivals.

Throughout FORMAT festival, MPN invited instagram users to submit photographs on the theme of personal evidence.  They printed the best images that explored the theme of EVIDENCE in original and insightful ways, for exhibition from 13th March – 12th April 2015.

This interactive exhibition invited participants to select a photograph and engage with the photographer by reworking the image.  Camdiary made this great reinterpretation of mine (here it is on instagram):

F-STOP MAGAZINE is an online photography magazine featuring contemporary photography from established and emerging photographers from around the world. 2014 Mobile Photography Awards – Honourable Mention

I’m really pleased to say that my photograph ‘No46 nightbus, London’ has been given an Honourable Mention in the Transportation category of the 2014 Mobile Photography Awards!

The Mobile Photography Awards is the world’s largest competition and touring exhibition for mobile photography and art.  The awards were founded in 2011 to recognize and celebrate the talent and imagery of the mobile photo & art communities.

Cornish Roads… in Colour burst

Two images from my newest body of work ‘Cornish Roads (hedges), in Flow‘ have been selected for inclusion in the exhibition Colour burst by PH21 Gallery, Budapest. Colour burst is a juried international exhibition of photographs that use colour as an integral, formative aspect of their photographic meaning – colour by signficance.

Flow, as defined by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, is “completely focused intrinsic motivation” in which your attention is so focused that “body and identity disappear from consciousness” and “existence is temporarily suspended” as you “become one with the activity”.  Here is a really interesting TED talk from Csíkszentmihályi about Flow and happiness. PH21 Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space established in 2012 in Budapest, Hungary. The mission of the gallery is to provide group and solo exhibition opportunities and international exposure for contemporary photographers around the world.

Honourable Mention for ‘No46 Bus (night), London’ at PH21 Gallery, Budapest

‘No46 Bus (night), London’ has been awarded an honourable mention in the new group exhibition by PH21 Gallery – City.

This juried international photography exhibition explores how urban spaces provide intensified experiences, how we shape our environment and how we live in the environment we create for ourselves.

Of my photograph, the juror’s review says “Nicola Jayne Maskrey presents a vivid, colourful impression of the city by night. The composition is shaped by motion itself, in a way we never actually see but often imagine or remember seeing a city. The person in the picture is faceless; she enters and then immediately exits our life, remaining a mere passing memory.”

This image is a recent addition to my very long work in progress – London Project/Traces – you can see more images from this series as well as other work on my instagram page.

I’m pleased to say that I have 3 images, in the October/November 2014 online group exhibition for F-Stop Magazine – Happy Accidents.
