Shutter Hub Open!

Shutter Hub OPEN 2018
4th – 9th October
Old Truman Brewery, 11 Dray Walk, London E1 6QR

Private View: Thursday 5th October, 6-9pm

In collaboration with The Newspaper Club, Shutter Hub brings together international photographers in a selected exhibition of over 200 images. I’m very happy to have two images in the exhibition, and I’m excited to see how they’ll translate to newsprint.

Obsolete and Discontinued – in the BJP, a book launch and an exhibition!

Obsolete and Discontinued is being made into a book!

The book is edited by project founder Mike Crawford and designed by Paul McKenzie Studio with an  introductory essay by Brigitte Lardinois. Published by Brovira Press the book is a limited edition run of 750 copies, cloth bound hardback, 128 pp, size: 28x24cm.

To support the project please do contribute to the O&D Crowdfunding campaign – as well as discounted copies you can buy limited edition postcards and prints from a selection of the featured artists.

The book launch is on Friday October 5th at Waterstones Bookshop Gallery, Gower Street, W1 – which will also mark the opening of a month long exhibition of all of the prints. Please do come along and check out the work in person, the prints are extra beautiful and some are wonderfully experimental.

This is my print for the project –

And if that wasn’t enough excitement, the BJP featured Obsolete and Discontinued on their website as well as running an article in its February 2018 magazine!

RPS Hundred Heroines

I just wanted to say a big thank you to the Royal Photographic Society for sharing my work as part of their #HundredHeroines social media campaign.

2018 marks the centenary of women’s suffrage in the UK and @RPS100Heroines  have invited the public to nominate their photographic heroine to go forward as one of ‘s significant hundred heroines. Click here to nominate:

In addition they invited female-identifying photographers to share their work to promote and celebrate women in photography today… which is where I’ve taken part.

Here are a few of the images, you can see the twitter thread in full here:  https://twitter.com/RPS100Heroines/status/1028938063538544640

The Rebel Daughter’s exhibition celebrating 100 years of women’s right to vote has had extensive coverage in Yorkshire press, including sharing images from my Ophelia series!

Rebel Daughters Doncopolitan Dec 2017

The exhibition was also featured on the Paulette Edwards show on BBC Radio Sheffield on 24 January and on the Cerys Matthews show on BBC 6 Music on 4 February.

Rebel Daughters Doncaster Free Press 18 Jan 18

The exhibition runs from 18th January – 7th April 2018 at The Point, 16 South Parade, Doncaster, DN1 2DR

Open weekdays from 10am-4pm and Saturdays from 10am-1.30pm. The Point is closed on all Bank Holiday Mondays and during Easter weekend.

As well as reflecting on the suffragette movement, the works on show have stimulated lots of discussion by and about women today, linking to a year long series of activities with Doncaster’s museums.
